Altus Animal Aid is a non-profit
501c (3) animal Rescue located in Altus, OK.
Our
mission is to ensure the humane treatment of companion animals and to
bring people and animals together to enrich each other's lives.

To provide rescue, adoption and population control
services necessary to ensure all companion animals in Altus, OK and
surrounding area have a stable and loving home in which to complete a
natural lifespan.

Provide transport of rescued companion animals to other
no-kill rescues, humane societies and sanctuaries in the Texoma area.

To create educational programs utilizing innovative
methods to introduce the higher ideals of compassion toward animals
and people, define responsible pet guardianship and make the case for
the need to control companion animal overpopulation.

The Altus Animal Aid Adoption
Center is a no-kill center, “which means we do not euthanize healthy
adoptable animals to make room for new ones”. Animal Aid handles all
adoptions, reclaims and manages both sides of the shelter. Animal
Control side of the shelter houses strays and they respond to animal
related calls in town. Animal(s) that are not reclaimed by their
owner are evaluated by our adoption center managers for adoptability.
If the animal(s) is adoptable they are moved to the adoption center
if space is available or they are transported to another no-kill
rescue. On an average Animal Aid rescue and adopt around 1,000
animals a year. On top of finding loving homes for the animals we
rescue they are also given their basic shot to include rabies and
spayed/neutered before going to their new homes. This is a major step
in reducing the amount of diseases and overpopulation of companion
dogs and cats in the Altus area.
